Abstract

The pineapple ( Ananas comosusL.) (Merr.) (4) industry in Puerto Rico is mainly based on two varieties, Red Spanish and Smooth Cayenne. Although both varieties possess good characters, neither fulfills all the requirements of the industry's immediate needs.
