A Perspective on New England's Compact Apple Tree Industry

New Englanders have been producing apples for the past 348 years. Today, our six-state-region accounts for just under 5% of the nation's apple supply, the product of some 669 commercial orchards encompassing 27,000 acres (1). Virtually all the fruit is produced and sold for fresh market consumption.
