Sprin frosts constitute a periodic if not perennial hazard to commercial orchardists in both Canada and the United States. Tolerance is a component of plant hardiness which, if recognized, has value both in the evaluation of varietal performance and adaptation, as well as in the selection of promising germplasm which might be utilized for further varietal improvement.
