For the amateur fruit grower and home gardener, the literature of pomology not only is useful, but also adds considerably to the charm and interest of a delightful hobby. These books are useful in helping to identify vari., eties, noting characteristics such as times of ripening and picking dates, vigor, storage qualities and cultural requirements. They add to one's interest, in telling much about the origin and history of the variety.
